Founded in 2023, the Zero Waste Initiative, Inc. (ZWI) formalizes the prior collaborative efforts of community organizations in Salina, KS. As a recognized Kansas 501(c)(3) nonprofit and Exempt Organization, ZWI is actively establishing ReUseIt Salina! This initiative will operate as a donation-based hub for new and used construction mat
Founded in 2023, the Zero Waste Initiative, Inc. (ZWI) formalizes the prior collaborative efforts of community organizations in Salina, KS. As a recognized Kansas 501(c)(3) nonprofit and Exempt Organization, ZWI is actively establishing ReUseIt Salina! This initiative will operate as a donation-based hub for new and used construction materials and hardware, offered at lower costs to support affordable housing and prevent landfill waste.

- ReUseIt Salina! Center: We've identified a building and land for our central operation. Our launch strategy involves an initial online presence, followed by the opening of a physical retail space.

- Community Recycling Partnerships: We've already begun working with Salina Area Technical College, providing a crucial service by collecting and transporting their recyclable materials to the Salina processing center.
- Upcycling & Repurposing Workshops: As ReUseIt Salina! transitions to its physical retail location, we plan to introduce hands-on workshops showcasing creative ways to reduce waste.
- Educational Resources & Outreach: Our future focus includes actively bringing waste reduction education and resources directly to the Salina community.
